Deinstitutionalisation for children with disabilities in Slovenia - Looking together for expertise and experience
Doing DI platform brings together those working on DI to help answer questions and move things forward.
Slovenia is working to replace large institutions with services in the community. One of their main questions is how to set up good support for children with disabilities. This workshop looked for experience, expertise and examples that can help Slovenia with deinstitutionalisation, setting up good support for children with disabilities.
On June 10, 2025 Inclusion Europe organised a workshop that brought together people who are facing specific challenges with others who have experience in addressing them.
- Participants received a written briefing on the situation and questions in advance, to be able to prepare and contribute.
- Institute for Social Welfare, Slovenia, presented the situation.
- One expert arranged in advance offered their views and experiences.
- Participants offered their experiences and examples to help to the process of DI in Slovenia forward.
The goal was simple: to present the situation, share the questions, and work together on possible answers. This approach — creating space for focused discussion and practical problem-solving — is what we plan to do more of in the future.
The workshop was organised as part of the Together+ project funded by Erasmus+.
